If you are reading this Love Letter, chances are, you already know (or suspect) that the mindset work, NLP, traditional coaching, or talk therapy will only get you and your clients so far.
Sorry to break it to you (but not really sorry tho đââïž): simply becoming aware of or reframing your patterns, thoughts, or limiting beliefs wonât do sh*t in the long run.
Iâve had many clients whoâve done many years of traditional coaching and therapy without any sustainable change. But rather just looping in the same Stuff with more awareness.
Also clients who left my practice to do a professional NLP training, only to come back after finishing the training with âNOW I get itâ, âNOW I see how itâs all in the Bodyâ, âI never want to leave this (somatic) work againâ ê©
And only after a couple of sessions working with the Body-first approach and allowing for their nervous system to lead, there was a massive shift.
Why?
Because our human lives are governed by our nervous systems (our brains – not to be confused with our minds!).
Everything youâve ever felt, done, and experienced is an output product of your brain.
And your brain (your nervous system) runs on pattern recognition and pattern creation. You are more pattern than matter.
Your patterning lives in your nervous systems, in you Body. It is pre-cognitive. So true unwinding can only happen in the Body, too.
Youâve probably experienced it many times – you can be very aware of a certain pattern but it can feel impossible to shift. You feel stuck in it.
Or – youâve done lots of top-down somatic modalities (like yoga, breathwork, shaking, screaming, etc.) and yet you find yourself bouncing back into your familiar patterns. Over and over again.
Doing all of those things might feel like a relief because there is a temporary absence of intensity but your intelligent system bounces back into the familiar very quickly.
Same when working with clients. Youâve done a lot of work together, but after a while they fall back into the old patterns.
Because the actual resolution of an imprint (or a pattern or even trauma) happens when we are able to make a different choice as we meet our Stuff on the Body level.
A Body being a sentient intertwined web of your physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, energetic, and relational experience.
Am I saying that talk therapy, mindset work, NLP, or traditional coaching are âbadâ? Not at all! They can be such great complimentary practices that support us.
But the foundation of sustainable long-term transformation lies in the Body.
And in the Body only.
Your Body is THE doorway.
